About the Role

The Trust Operations – Disbursements Specialist is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate distribution of funds to and for  the benefit of clients, including by check, wire and ACH transfer. The  position is a non-exempt, hourly position located in the Boston office,  providing in-person support and services to the partners.


The  Trust Operations – Disbursements Specialist reports directly to the  Trust Operations Manager. The hours of employment are Monday through  Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and such other hours as may be required from  time to time in order to ensure the timely rendering of services.  Additional straight time is paid for hours worked after 35 to 40 in the  workweek. Overtime is paid for hours paid after 40 in the workweek.

Duties and Requirements

  • Processes both re-occurring and ad hoc check, wire and ACH requests on the Trust Accounting system.

  • Arranges for checks to be signed and distributed by the designated entity.

  • Inputs future distributions into the Trust Accounting software as instructed.

  • Initiates wire and ACH transfers online to the designated bank as well as implements in-house transfers as instructed.

  • Maintains the Positive Pay file with the bank.

  • Prepares income projections as requested and according to established schedules.

  • Responds to client and attorney questions regarding distributions.

  • Troubleshoots problems in their job duties area.

  • Performs such other duties as are necessary from time to time to ensure  the timely, efficient and accurate rendering of Trust services.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree and/or a minimum of three years of successful trust accounting work experience.

  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency working with numbers and software programs required.



ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/ESSENTIAL FUNTION:

  • Must have strong aptitude for working with numbers and the ability to work proficiently with necessary software programs.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the  ability to timely and accurately follow instructions and time schedules,  and maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to manage multiple  responsibilities, while utilizing Firm resources to accomplish tasks,  set priorities, and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team participating on projects.

  • Interpersonal skills include a high degree of sensitivity, tact and  diplomacy when dealing with clients and the ability to interact  positively and professionally with both staff and lawyers.

  • Remain composed and interact positively and professionally with partners and employees in all situations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and electronically with strong verbal and writing skills.

  • Technical proficiencies include the effective use of a PC and the  ability to work on various software packages used by the Firm including  AccuTrust Cheetah (training will be provided).

  • The ability to  quickly, efficiently and consistently perform accurate data input with a  basic knowledge of accounting functions and/or spreadsheet work.

  • Work in an organized manner to ensure timely and efficient work performance as well as continuity of services.

  • Always be and always be perceived as highly confidential as pertains to  partners’ and employees’ personal information as well as Firm  information.

  • Continually advance in the knowledge and skills required to perform job duties

Salary

$55,000 - $62,000 per year
