About the Role
The Human Resources and HRIS Manager collaborates with the Director of Human Resources and Talent Development on driving the HR function forward by assisting with the development and implementation of HR initiatives to support the Firm’s strategic objectives and manages the HRIS function for the Firm. The Manager also supervises the legal administrative assistants. This role is an exempt role working in the Boston location with flexibility to work remotely 2 days a week.
The HR/ HRIS Manager provides high-level HR support to attorneys and business services employees. This role would be ideal for a resourceful self-starter who is interested in a challenge, driving HR initiatives, leading projects, and managing the HRIS function.
Duties and Requirements
Drives the HR function, including leading and managing HR projects/initiatives.
Coordinates the annual staff performance evaluation process.
Coaches manages and employees on performance management and supports managers with effective strategies to address performance concerns.
Develops and updates legally compliant job descriptions and works with hiring managers to draft compelling job postings.
Serves as the HRIS expert for the Firm.
Maintains the Firm’s HRIS system (Ceridian Dayforce), including interfacing with the vendor, communicating changes to the HR team or other relevant functions, i.e., Finance, IT.
Processes all compensation and title changes in Dayforce and ensures changes are communicated to payroll.
Ensures the integrity of all systems data by reviewing input and conducting regular audits.
Troubleshoots issues, ensures maximum functionality and security, and monitors the timely backup of data.
Manages, maintains and updates viDesktop, the Firm’s performance evaluation system.
Develops and delivers training to end users through one-on-one and group training sessions; trains new hires in the use of Dayforce.
Responds to survey requests, creates queries and reports.
Completes, reviews, analyzes, and distributes monthly HR metrics.
Maintains staff compensation data, including conducting a compensation analysis every other year and in collaboration with the Director Human Resources makes recommendations for refreshing comp ranges for business services positions.
Supervising Legal Administrative Assistants
Supervises the legal administrative assistants, including hiring, on-boarding, and coaching the assistants.
Reviews assignments to ensure proper workload among the assistants, assigns coverage to attorneys ensuring appropriate structure to maximize services and support provided to attorneys.
Acts as liaison between the legal assistants and the rest of the Firm, particularly with other administrative functions, such as Finance and IT to ensure the legal assistants receive the necessary information.
Suggests improvement in the delivery of secretarial/administrative support services to the Firm.
Identifies training needs for the legal assistants and collaborates with IT/Professional Development to deliver relevant programs.
BA/BS degree required.
4+ years of progressive, successful work experience in Human Resources, including 3+ years of HRIS experience is required, Dayforce experience preferred.
Experience managing and developing employees preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint required.
Excellent Excel skills, including strong knowledge and experience using pivot tables required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with team members, attorneys, and staff throughout the Firm.
